Why Having Good Friends Is So Important

I prioritize friends, even when this act isn't reciprocated. I've lost count of the number of nights I've stayed up to make a friend a card, wrap a gift or write a letter.

I don't know who and where I'd be if I didn't have these beautiful people that have walked into, out of or are still in my life. The support they give me is like the air you finally get to breath after having drowned in water; priceless and lifesaving.

Friendship and I

I take friendship very seriously when it comes to friends I truly, deeply love. I may be a bit of a cheat when it comes to friends I'm less concerned about. This is clearly unfair, just like everything else in life.

Now that I think about it, there actually isn't that many friends I take to the heart. I do care about most of my friends, but caring is nothing like really, really caring.

How Jamie-Lee Hoban Lived

Keisha is a girl I met in Ottawa back in spring when I was participating in Encounters with Canada. Everyone there came from a different place and had a different story. Keisha told me hers, and it was the one that sank in the deepest. Now you're thinking, does Keisha have anything to do with Jamie-Lee? Well, she does.

Keeping In Touch With Long-Distance Friends

Some things eventually make us realize that far-away friends can sometimes be the closest, and that the ones who are next to you may be more out of your reach than you think.

The importance of a friend and the amount of space he/she takes up in your heart should not  be based on the number of miles separating the two of you. If that person can make you smile and laugh on your worst days with just a Facebook wall post, then the fact that he/she lives an atlantic-ocean away should be nothing but a minor detail in your friendship.

Sure, long-distance friendships are tough, but like everything else in this lifeit takes some trying.

Friends vs Family

Keeping friends and family at a perfect balance is definitely among the most difficult aspects of human relationships. Most of us don't succeed in pleasing the two parties at once. We often find ourselves in situations where we need to choose one over the other, which is not exactly the easiest thing to do when both are of equal importance, or almost. How would you choose?
